What were some of the biggest challenges you faced on your study abroad journey?
One of my biggest challenges was funding. Initially, my department didn't have funding available for me, and I was staring at a $51,416 deficit with no clear solution. I was even considering loans with Mpower. But about a month before my interview, God came through for me. And a graduate teaching assistant job came through, providing me with 100% funding. It was a turning point, and I knew my journey had truly begun.
As someone transitioning from statistics to fine arts, how did you explain this during your visa interview?
When asked about the shift from statistics to fine arts, I emphasized my passion for art. I explained that it wasn't a sudden decision but a long-standing love, evident through my extensive work displayed on social media. How do you plan to use your degree to transform the gallery and visual arts space in Nigeria?
I aim to leverage my degree from Wayne State University to revolutionize Nigeria's art scene. With experience gained under the mentorship of the distinguished Professor Thomas, who has curated over 200 exhibitions globally, I'll return to launch a gallery that not only showcases but also fiercely advocates for underrepresented artists. My goal is to propel their work onto the global stage, leveraging the valuable connections I've built to connect their creations with collectors worldwide.
What advice would you give to young creatives in Nigeria who want to study fine arts abroad?

I felt joy and validation when the visa officer smiled during my interview. After preparing diligently, I felt deserving of my success.
