Poland looks like a drawn-out picturesque destination with a whisk of wildness, filled with middle-aged architecture and breathtaking landscapes. "Guest at home" reflects how the Poles care for their visitors. Poland borders seven countries: Belarus, Lithuania, Russia, Ukraine, Slovakia, the Czech Republic, and Germany. 

Studying in Poland offers international students a higher education in affordable English-taught universities. The country has implemented the Bologna Process in its educational system and offers a non-degree programme called “Zerówka,” a 9-month preparatory course for future students.

  • Fall Intake (October) – Main intake

  • Spring Intake (February) – Limited programs

 University application deadlines in Poland

Polish universities consist of two semesters, each lasting 15 weeks.

  1. Beginning of October: Fall semester starts

  2. Mid-February: Fall semester ends

  3. Mid-February: Spring semester starts

  4. End of June: Spring semester ends

  5. Beginning of July – end of September: summer vacation

Poland Admission Required Documents

The required documents for a Polish visa application are:

  • Two Polish visa application forms 

  • Two passport-sized photos 

  • Valid international passport 

  • Health insurance

  • Proof of accommodation 

  • Proof of financial means: A minimum amount of 2500 PLN (approx. $618) and 776 PLN per month (approx. $192) for living expenses. Students with a family member must show proof of having a minimum of 600 PLN (approx. $148) for each additional person.

  • Housing and accommodation of 1776 PLN (approx. $439)

  • A university acceptance letter signed by a Polish university

  • An invitation letter. If you can not reach a dormitory contract or rental agreement for your accommodation during your stay in Poland, you can apply for your visa with an invitation letter. The invitation letter must be written by a guarantor, who should confirm that they can provide for your stay during your studies in Poland.

Language requirements for a Polish university application

International students may require proof of their English language proficiency:

  • PTE Academic

  • Duolingo

  • C1 Advanced

  • IELTS Academic

  • TOEFL iBT

Tuition Fees & Cost of Living

  • Tuition: €2,000 – €6,000 per year

  • Living Costs: €400 – €800 per month

Poland Work & Post-Study Opportunities

  • Students can work up to 20 hours per week

  • Graduates can stay and work in Poland with a temporary residence permit

Poland Student Visa Requirements

Visit a Polish consulate or embassy to set up an appointment. 

2) Complete the application form.

3) Collect the required documents, which include:

a) Two passport-sized photos

b) Proof of medical insurance that is valid in Europe

c) Proof of financial resources to cover living and educational expenses, Letter of acceptance from a Polish university

d) Proof of accommodation

e) Receipt of payment for the first semester's tuition Receipt of payment for the visa application fees

f) A cover letter that includes a brief introduction, employment status, and an itinerary of your visit to Poland

e) A CV 

f) Relevant Certificates

4) Apply in person at the Polish embassy or consulate

5) Attend the visa interview if it is required. 

6) Wait for the decision. The embassy will notify you of the expected processing time, which is typically 15 days.
