Do you have siblings in Canada who want to bring your parents or grandparents to the country for more than six months? If you want to know how to bring your elderly loved ones to Canada, you might need a Super Visa.

What should you know about Canada Super Visa?

1.    Effective June 7th, 2022, Canada's immigration made these changes to the parents and grandparents' Super Visa:

2.    Applicants can buy Super Visa insurance from designated non-Canadian insurance companies.

3.    The stay in Canada is increased to a maximum of 5 years per trip.

4.    People with a Super Visa can request to extend their stay for up to two years while in Canada.

What is a Super Visa Canada?

The Super Visa is for foreign nationals who want their elderly loved ones (parents/grandparents) to live with them in Canada for up to 5 years without the need to renew their status.

In addition, the visa is valid for ten years, and your parents can always visit during this period as long as each trip is less than five years. Therefore, the visa offers a multi-entry visa.

However, if the visit is less than six months at a time, your parents or grandparents may not require a Super Visa but the standard visitor visa.

The processing time varies by country, but it is processed within a few weeks.

No, only the Parent(s)/Grandparent(s) coming to Canada can apply for their Super Visa.

2.     What is the difference between a Super Visa and a regular visitor visa?

The duration of stay in Canada per visit is the difference. A visitor visa allows at least six months, the maximum amount of time per trip, while a Super Visa allows up to five years per trip.
